How to Search National Chemical Database in Vietnam

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in Vietnam launches its new national chemical database in August 2018. The database not only contains its draft national chemical inventory (NCI) but also includes regulated chemicals list under Vietnam's Chemicals Law. In this article, we will show you how to search the national chemical database.
Background
The database is developed and maintained by the Department of Chemicals under MoIT. The database includes the following regulated chemical lists in Vietnam.
- Draft national chemical inventory (NCI)
- The list of chemicals subject to conditional production or import (list 1);
- The list of chemicals restricted from production or trade (list 2);
- The list of banned chemicals (list 3);
- The list of hazardous chemicals for which chemical incident prevention and response plans are required (list 4);
- The list of chemicals subject to compulsory declarations (list 5);
Its development has got support from the Japanese Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry (METI). Although the database also allows you to search the list of regulated chemicals in Japan (via CHRIP), this use is not recommended.
How to Access
The database is only available in Vietnamese. It is recommended that you use Chrome browser to access the database and translate it into English (see example below). Old version of windows IE does not work.
How to Search
Click the search button at the top of navigation menu and you will see the following search window. You can search a chemical substance by English name or CAS no.
Take methanol (CAS 67-56-1) for example. You will know it is listed in list 2, 4 and 5. By clicking "detail", you can see more info (i.e, listed in NCI).
By clicking "Advanced Search", you can also specify the lists of chemicals you would like to search.
